The artist behind his art. Expressionism after 100 years has become functional in our daily lives if it is for nothing else than that it can hang on an office wall as decorum. Expressionism is our today’s avant-garde art and indeed the last strong hold, of that bourgeois taste where the academic rules. But I ask, 'What is an emotional charged painting of the expressionist painters compared to the realty of two world wars, a Vietnam, and the radical Islamic thinking of this new brave century? But for its sticker price.' As a painter I was lucky to be born in the Netherlands and I am grateful for my technical and abstract upbringing against canvases of Rembrandt and Van Gogh. But it was here in the USA that I have found my Modernism. I try to stand in the Shadow of the great Expressionist, George Grosz, Otto Dix, Karel Appel and William de Kooning. I hope that what I have put on canvas will give you the viewer the pleasure to experience that old fashion expressionistic awareness. Please enjoy, this is my blues on canvas.
